The Bridges Community Trust is a local community organisation that has a track record of bringing people and organisations together to improve the delivery of services for local residents across Meadows, Clifton and surrounding areas
HISTORY OF THE TRUST
Supporting the community for over 21 years
The organisation was started as The Meadows Forum in 1996 by local residents who wanted to improve the area in which they lived. From this, The Meadows Partnership Trust was formed and Meadows One Stop Shop opened in the Bridgeway Centre on 29th July 1998 and became The Bridges Community Trust in July 2017.
Run by a Volunteer Board of Directors and a small number of paid staff, the Trust initially started out as a regeneration organisation, representing and giving a voice to the local Meadows Residents. The Trust has evolved over the years and now has a successful and proven track record of getting local people back into work, training or education through various employability programmes.
Area Based Grant is the Nottingham City Council Grant for the Voluntary and Community Sector.
From April 2013 to March 2019, The Trust was Area Lead for Area 8 Bridge (Meadows) and Clifton. Due to the Ward Boundary Changes, we are now Area Lead for Area 7 Clifton East and Clifton West; and we work in partnership with Castle Cavendish to deliver services in the Meadows, which is now part of Area 5.
STAFF AND BOARD
The Bridges Community Trust has a small number of staff, and some regularly deliver our services at outreach sites. In addition, we have regular staff training events/meetings.
(Community & Operations Manager; Company Secretary)
(Senior Employment Advisor/YEI Employment Advisor)
I am a single dad with two kids and two grandkids. I've lived in Nottingham for 30 years having escaped from London in 1988; and have lived in the Meadows for almost 18 years.
I've been a union member for over 43 years; served 9 years in Her Majesty's Forces; been a recruitment consultant, a financial adviser and have been involved in local politics all my life. I served as a Director of The Bridges Community Trust for a number of years, transferring to the Senior Employment Adviser/GetAhead Advisers role in January 2019 (a move I am thoroughly enjoying and which made me realise I should have made such a change many years ago).
(YEI Employment Advisor/Volunteer Coordinator)
I joined The Bridges Community Trust with the GetAhead Team in February 2019.
My background is in Social Housing so moving into Employment is an exciting new challenge for me and I hope I will make a positive contribution towards the community. I am enjoying getting to know the local area and the residents which make up such a vibrant and welcoming community and am looking forward to the future and developing alongside the people that I am working with.
I started working at the Trust part-time mid April 2018.
I am the part-time Receptionist for The Bridges Community Trust
I am local Meadows resident and started volunteering for the Trust in September 2018 and became a paid staff member in December 2018.
I am the Cleaner for the Trust
I am a local resident with a large family and a lovely dog who keeps me company.
I started work at the Trust in January 2019, keeping the office clean.
